We treat the stain first, then clean the carpet

A stain or a smell needs more than a general clean. We treat each one for what caused it, then steam clean the carpet to rinse the treatment and the residue out.

Pet urine soaks down into the carpet backing and underlay. That is why a smell can come back after a surface clean. Treating urine is routine work for us, including in rest home carpets.

Not every stain comes out completely. Its age, the carpet fibre and anything already put on it all make a difference. Tell us what it is and how long it has been there, and we will tell you what we can do.

Elavo is family owned and has been cleaning carpet across Christchurch and North Canterbury since 2003.

Carpet stain and odour questions

Can all carpet stains be removed?

No. Many stains come out completely and most improve, but some leave a mark, especially old ones or ones already treated with a household product. We tell you what to expect before we start.

How do you get pet urine smell out of carpet?

By treating it where it has soaked in. The urine has to be neutralised in the backing and underlay, then rinsed out. A spray on deodoriser only covers the smell for a while.

What should I put on a carpet stain before you arrive?

Only a little cold water. Blot it with a clean white cloth and don’t rub. Avoid household stain removers and bleach, which can set a stain or take the colour out, and tell us anything you have already used.

What is carpet deodorising?

A treatment that neutralises smells in the carpet instead of covering them with a scent. It works best once the cause, such as urine, has been treated and cleaned out.

How much does carpet stain removal cost?

It depends on the stain and the size of the area. Tell us what it is and roughly how big, and we will confirm the price before we start.

What areas do you cover?

We work across Christchurch and North Canterbury. If you are further out, give us a call on 021 771 303 and we will let you know if we can get to you.
